Album Review: Of Montreal’s Hissing Fauna Are You The Destroyer?

Of Montreal’s Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? Is currently on sale and was released on January 23. It has been on my playlist for quite some time and right now with all the craziness with March Madness, I’m going to try something new with the odd album review on my blog.

As a band I really dig Of Montreal’s music, almost every song is like crack and I eventually get addicted to them if I listen to them. When I downloaded this album (sorry, I’m going to buy it!) a lot of titles had me scared in what I was hearing and had me intimidated that I wasn’t going to understand the meaning to these songs. If you could tell me what Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse, or Gronlandic Edit would be about, you may walk over me and call me stupid…

This album is in my mind very solid with many catchy songs and I have easily developed favorites in She’s a Rejector, A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger and Gronlandic Edit.
While the songs may be too abstract for me to understand easily, the songs are just great that I make the attempt to try to find what others thing of the song.

If you’re an Of Montreal fan, you’ll love this album and if you want to be introduced into indie rock, Of Montreal’s Hissing Fauna…would be a great start. I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5.
