Les Savy Fav: Let’s Stay Friends Review

Les Savy Fav is a band from New York City and have been together since 1995. However “Let’s Stay Friends” is the first release I have heard and is currently considered one of the best albums of 2007 with an 87 score currently on Metacritic.
Les Savy Fav is regarded as a post/art punk type of band which says they give a harder and a little more screaming than most of the bands I seem to like. This probably would be the type of thing Joe or Xulander would listen to. After listening to this album, I have to say I really agree with the critics on this one thought it hasn’t been rated well by some users.
I think this album is very addictive all around. It may not be inventive or “original” but I really dig the intros and the strong singing displayed in many of the songs. I found this album very easy to listen to all the way throughout and I gradually started listening to this album hour after hour. I think the bands shows a lot of what it can do in terms of style with having a broad range from to softer sounding songs or some really good punk rock that I’ve felt I’ve been lacking recently.
This album gets a 5 out of 5 for rocking so much. It probably isn’t in my top 5 but it easily makes my top 10 of 2007. Wonderful album.
My two favorite songs seem to be less of the punk type and more generically of what I like, with good guitar intros and great singing. The screaming and harder sounding songs really complement the differences between the songs for me.
