Holy Fuck – LP Review
Holy fuck it’s a band name called Holy Fuck! Some people tend to dwell on the band’s profane name but I personally find it funny to see it used in newspapers freely. I’ve seen reviews of Holy Fuck in Toronto area newspapers (not that I take stock in their reviews) but I’ve never really listened to their stuff until recently.
It’s really sad but I probably know about a handful of people who’ve even heard of the band Holy Fuck despite coming from the same city. Anyway for those who also don’t know much about Holy Fuck, they are an electronic/experimental type band. Apparently unlike most electronic acts these days, they don’t use technologies gifts like programmed back tracks or laptops live so they must be a joy to see live.
Onto the album “LP” which I hate as a title, I enjoy the name Holy Fuck but LP just comes off as bland as it tells you nothing about the theme of the album. “LP” has only 9 tracks with a few a joy to listen to including “Lovely Allen” and “Safari” definitely random and at times it feels 1990s video game sounding (which is awesome). I am not sure I can accurately describe an electronic album but I’ll do my best. For the most part I enjoy most tracks sometimes there’s an bass line beat that carries every other track while adding randomness around it. After some analysis some songs do sound repetitive but it was really hard to catch.
I’ve had Holy Fuck’s album for a few weeks and I was able to really give it more time like other albums. I never really felt compelled to go back to their stuff nor listen to the album for a long period of time. Possibly it’s the lyric-less album. Either way there are some great electronic stuff though every other track has the same concept of starting with a bass line and building other randomness. Electronic fans will probably love this album, 4 out of 5.
Enjoy the mp3s.
