Burial’s Identity Revealed!

Burials Identity Revealed! The anonymous dub-step musician, Burial no longer has his anonymity which gave Burial a special lore as his previous self-titled disc and last year’s release of Untrue received wide critical acclaim with Untrue finishing as Metacritic’s top album of 2008.

NME was saying he was the in the lead to win the Mercury Music Prize and while I agree, shouldn’t every person have the right to his or her privacy? In this case Burial aka Will Bevan was outed by people searching with the UK’s Sun telling people to investigate, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard telling people that Burial went to the same school definitely narrowed down the search.

Burial himself has decided to out himself on his myspace:

hi

for a while theres been some talk about who i am , but its not a big deal
i wanted to be unknown because i just want it to be all about the tunes.
over the last year the unknown thing become an issue so im not into it any more.
im a lowkey person and i just want to make some tunes, nothing else. my names will bevan, im from south london, im keeping my head down and just going to finish my next album, theres going to be a 12″ maybe in the next few weeks too with 4 tunes. hope u like it, i’ll try put a tune up later

sorry for any rubbish tunes i made in the past, ill make up for it

a big big thank you to anyone who ever supported me, liked my tunes or sent me messages, it means the world to me

big up everyone, take care, will ( burial )

Hmm I still have more questions, would Burial ever tour now that his identity is revealed? Would he keep his head down trying to conceal his identity? Whatever it is, I wish him the best. The luster of him being some anonymous musician is now gone but he still makes great tunes…albeit still weird for me.

A quick google would tell you that it’s the Sun, and not the Guardian, that are/were clamouring for Burial’s identity to be revealed. You might as well mix up chalk and cheese.

And how was he “outed by people searching with the UK’s Guardian telling people to investigate” (I’ve read this sentence so many times, and it still doesn’t make sense), if the announcement came from his own myspace?

My mistake on the paper. I though I read the Guardian about a week ago. I know how to use google, thanks.

He was outed. He definitely confirmed it himself but on BMI it listed Willaim Beaven. Burial just proved that the rumors were TRUE.

Would you not think that if they hadn’t gotten his name right he would’ve come out?

I was following this story last week so he was definitely outed beforehand.

His identity has been in the public domain since at least March. But that didn’t stop the Sun publishing a story still making out that his name was a mystery. So isn’t that the real story? An irrelevant media outlet trying to keep up with a subculture it has completely ignored previously?
