Young Sensation – Kitty Magic EP
Young Sensation! Is a 4 person group from the UK.
They don’t say where they are from, they claim to have a variety of degrees, exhibit A:
“Andy Death has four degrees. These are in philosophy, law, English and media. His parents are delighted with his minimum wage job and prospective career in rock n roll”
If Andy Death indeed has 4 degrees, that may make him a 30-year old and therefore he may not even be “young” at least this band is a pop sensation.
Apparently, the Young Sensation crew worked with Andy Ramsay of Stereolab. They have a vast number of cool little facts, including Andy Death once dating Ellen Campesinos before the Los Campesinos! were famous.
After a lengthy discussion of the band, Young Sensation or Young Sensation! – with the Los Campesinos! Style exclamation mark only has a few songs recorded. It’s really just a single for Kitty Magic.
However their two other tracks I’ve begun to really like instead. They are titled “Beautiful Noise” and “Happiness”. There’s great guitar pop displayed on all 3 tracks. Andy Death’s vocals remind me of someone but like many other blogs, it is hard to come up with something. It’s a very British voice but not at all annoying or arguably annoying.
It’s hard to judge where this band will go but 3 songs that display perfect pop sensibilities. It’s a little odd though that their “single” Kitty Magic is probably the weakest of the 3. It may be because it’s a little more original but Young Sensation! makes great pop music and has me wanting to dance and sing along.
I’d like to keep up with their future releases, they seem to be fairly new tracks and once an album comes out, I’ll have lofty expectations.
