Making my bias clear is obviously my intention. We all have biases and I’d rather be upfront about them (see my hate for MGMT) rather then pretend like I’m not. Sure I could be more objective but where’s the fun in that?

I liked her singing in English AND French. I didn’t like whatever the band was doing behind her.

It’s strange that you do not get to reviewing the EP itself until halfway through. The first half seemed to just be you making your bias clear before you heard a note from the EP. Then you mostly say that unless Amy Millan is singing in English, you don’t care. I have to say this is one of the worst reviews I’ve ever read.

I think this EP just seemed like it was geared for teenagers like the Pitchfork review alluded too. What made your ex-lover is dead so great was the fact of feeling old and almost heartbroken…that feeling of regret resounded to me as a teen and when listening to it now and being a little older.

yeah don’t worry about it. I also find stars to be quite inspiring in such vulnerable emotional state type ways. Not saying the ad is good, it actually sounds dumb, but your ex-lover is dead is truly one of the most inspiring pieces of music emotionally and melodramatically i can think of. Thanks for the correction! Keep up the great work

I guess I’d be satisfied with my review if the negative things are seen as positive. It’s really a matter of opinion. I just didn’t “get” Bedroom…

I guess with Torq, who I am generally satisfied with is that he usually doesn’t bring anything specifically special, nonetheless I found his role to be much more important on other efforts.

It’s funny but the negative things that you mentioned in your review actually make me even more eager to check out the EP. I didn’t hate “Bedroom” as much as you did, but I did find it less satisfying than “Set Yourself” But I actually really enjoy the ambiance created by their instrumental works and, although I agree that Amy’s voice is spectacular, I consistently find Torq’s songs to be the more satisfying numbers on their other albums. Gonna be checking out the EP right away.
