The Frames – The Cost

The Frames The Cost

There are times in every person’s life when either he or she is looking for something. Be that money, happiness, love, friendship, answers to his or her questions…peace… or good music. You’ve been there, I know. We’ve all been there.

And even though I can’t help you with your search I can help with one item on your list. Good music. And if that’s what you are looking for – come over here and sit with us.

Now there, I understand that the album was released in 2006 which makes it two years old (for those of you who failed math in high school), but you know what… screw that, all I say.

I will start from the beginning and tell you a little bit about The Frames. They’re Irish and… they are awesome. Trust me, this is pretty much everything you need to know about them. Now you can’t say that you’ve never heard of them because I just told you… so my advice is – finish reading this and run to the nearest HMV store and pray that they still have a copy of one of their albums. That’s right – ANY album.

Meanwhile go to The Frames official website and download a song called Fitzcarraldo and enjoy the shit out of it. I hope you like it because if you don’t – I’m gonna hunt you for the rest of your life. Just joking…. I will hunt you in your nightmares for some time though.

But enough about that. The Cost was released worldwide in February 2007 on the ANTI label. Sonically it’s perfect. Logically it’s non-compromising. Culturally… it is a masterpiece. But hey, my opinion is biased so you gonna have to figure this one out for yourself.

The album features new stuff as well as some of their older songs. Before buying it (and I really do recommend this one and/or any other album) you can go to their website, click the music tab, click on the album (start with Set List) and listen to the songs.

Before doing that though you will need RealPlayer(which we all hate, I know… but hey… some things you DO have to pay for)

Come to think of it – has anyone of you watched last year’s Oscar? Well if you did you should remember the song called “Falling Slowly” from the movie “Once” (which you could also watch if you’re into indie stuff… and good movies). Anyway, they won the Oscar, said a couple of words, and looked a little awkward…

I can go on and on talking about how bloody awesome the record is, but you see – it won’t matter. It doesn’t matter what I think,.. some things you have to see for yourself to start believing in them.

And let the good quality music prevail over mass produced bullshit… that’s Britney’s prerogative.

I’d recommend RealAlternative rather than RealPlayer.

Also, I know it’s a little nitpicky but it was The Swell Season that won the Oscar and not The Frames.

A little bit misleading since it is still Glen Hansard and still related to The Frames, I guess.
