Playlist For My Winter Blues

Playlist For My Winter BluesHey everyone,

I haven’t been posting in a long time. Being the main writer, the website has taken a major step back in the number of people we get. I’m definitely feeling guilty.

The past month has been pretty tough on me, physically, mentally and more so. While I do rant here and there among friends, the airing of personal issues never strikes me as something I’d like to do normally so it’s more a rarity. I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me, I just need to vent I guess…

Anyway, being a York student, I was rushed back to school (instead of concentration on managing + updating the blog) and the timing couldn’t be worse. I’ve been on pain killers the last month, struggling with recurring knee injuries. I’ve had leg problems before, suffering from ankle injuries on the opposite leg – stemming from my days of my reckless rugby days.

I dislocated it in the summer playing some floor hockey. It was a terrible injury as my leg fully twisted and I fell on it, hearing the “pop”. I should’ve asked/pleaded to get an MRI on it. If only I was in the states, an MRI exam would’ve been necessary, but then again Canada’s health care is only good for convenience not when it’s absolutely necessary. Anyway, last month, I again was playing some floor hockey. After a nice warm up and months of working out to rehab my knee, things were looking better. The first shift went alright, they scored a goal against us which is never good, I ended up coming off and hopped over the time bench. It was like a mini hurdle and my knee buckles and I’m in a lot of pain again. Basically if I had been playing hopscotch I would’ve been just as likely to get hurt.

It’s not like I went down in pain, I was still standing, just slightly buckled. This time when I came into see the specialist, he actually took time to look at my knee. He gave me the news,”I think you have a ruptured ACL”. Just great! Maybe you should check if I have a torn acl after I dislocate my freaking knee the first time and instead of saying it’s all fine and dandy!

That was the Friday before the return of school. I’ve been limping around campus (I wish I could honestly say that people have been nice to me universally while I’ve limped around, it’s a mix bag. In the summer I had no one of the bus give me a seat when I was on crutches in a crowded bus, and when I was limping around on them, I actually had a group of people laugh at me…..) hoping not to slip on the icy/slushy/wet grounds. It’s really the stress of school that’s hurting me (we’re still finishing the Fall semester). Assignment after assignment. No free days, it makes the goal of wanting to be busy doing nothing a dream at the end of this long tunnel.

There’s just one more week to go through and my month of hell will end. I’ll be able to get some rest in March (6 hours of rest never felt better when you’re injured). My MRI results come back on the 5th, hopefully they can provide me a brace and some sort of issue with surgery (it feels like it’s at the very least torn).

A More Uncertain Future by Love Is All

In other randomness, February has been a dry month for me in terms of music. I’ve really struggled to listen to music in my moody/stressful state, other then say The Rest. Expect for some bad reviews, as I take out my anger on their music being unable to cheer me up (I should not be disclosing this but a lot of the time, music is very dependent on the mood you’re in).

Anyway, while I don’t want to get caught up on overly sulking for my crappy month. It could be worse (I could have two busted legs?). Here’s what I have in store for March. More social networking. I haven’t done a great job with our myspace page (not proud enough to link it), haven’t even looked my twitter or even my personal facebook page in ages. That said I expect to be more social on the internet then with the blog and my email. Also as much as I am introverted, I’m going to experiment with a weekly music review, to hone my video editing skills and taking away from my camera shyness. I don’t think I’m hot stuff to be a YouTube star though.

I shall see everyone on the other side of February.
