M.I.A to play Coachella

Due to her on-going legal problems, Amy Winehouse has dropped off the Coachella line up and M.I.A, according to the Coachella website, has quickly filled the spot. This woman does not stop; performing at the Grammys, delivering a baby the same night and now back out on stage – being a new mother obviously does not get in the way of her work.

Pete Doherty streaming new album online

Pete Doherty’s new album titled ‘Grace/Wastelands’, released on March 16, has been streaming in it’s entirety since a week before it hit the shelves. Although the album is now available to buy, it’s still up for your listening pleasure. Go to myspace.com/gracewastelands to check it out.

Rhymesayers drops bombs and tour dates

P.O.S. is golden. His new album ‘Never Better’ is simply amazing. Sorry everyone, I know this is kind of vague so far, but I will have a complete review for the album very soon. In the meantime go buy it; this is going to be one of the best hip hop albums of 2009. Trust! With this album came the videos for songs ‘Drumroll (We’re All Thirsty)’ and ‘Goodbye’ and now comes the newest video for ‘Optimist’.

Also, Brother Ali just introduced ‘The Truth is Here’ EP as a follow up to his album ‘The Undisputed Truth’. This EP is a collection of two B-Sides and seven unreleased tracks, but also comes with a full-length DVD. The DVD will include a sold out homecoming performance of The Undisputed Truth tour held in Minneapolis, MN as well as interviews, a special commentary by Brother Ali, and videos of ‘Take Me Home’ and ‘Uncle Sam Goddamn’.

Both P.O.S. and Brother Ali will join Atmosphere for sections of the When God Gives You Ugly tour.

Bloc Party remixed, again

Whether you love them, hate them or just don’t care anymore, Bloc Party is set to release another album of remixes. This time for the ‘Intimacy’ album, it will be titled ‘Intimacy Remixed’ (they didn’t stretch far for that name) and will be available on May 11. You’ll be able to get a small sample on April 27 when the first single, ‘Signs (Armand Van Helden mix)’, will be released.

While on the topic of remixes

During some random internet browsing the other day I came across some pure talent. Kutiman has posted a remix project comprised of seven songs with videos, all of which was created using sounds and images strictly from YouTube. I can’t even begin to imagine how much time and effort went into these works, but the outcome is incredible and it can be viewed at thru-you.com.

Here’s some mp3s to help you enjoy your weekend:

M.I.A / Diplo – Pop
P.O.S – Drumroll (We’re All Thirsty)
Brother Ali – Wat’cha Got
Bloc Party – The Prayer (Does It Offend You, Yeah! Remix)
