Quick Contest: Woodhands, The Carps, Creature and more at The Phoenix

We’ve got a quick contest to present. It ends on Thursday morning. Just leave a comment to enter with a valid e-mail address. The prize is two tickets (guestlist) to see Woodhands, The Carps, Creature, Golden Girls and Famous Players at The Phoenix on Friday April 17th. It’s sponsored by Steamwhistle a beer I’ve heard mixed reviews about but never tried it. It’s a pretty large show and on a Friday night with the weather looking up. It should be good.

Woodhands is definitely the main attraction who’ve had many people raving about their live shows. The Carps, I haven’t had the chance to catch them, it seems like I’m always late to something and I miss them. I have yet to hear about Creature, Golden Girls and Famous Players. However it should be a an awesome showcase of Canadian talent and a really awesome electro dance night.

Just enter a comment below and you can see it for free ;) . *Don’t forget your email addy though.
Electric Ave. by Woodhands
Veronica Belmont by The Carps
Do The Criminal by Golden Girls
Brigitte Bardot by Creature

You really need to see The Carps. Their live show is fantastic, and they’re just awesome all around.

Cool, they’ve had some mixed reviews but I guess it depends on the person. Nice to see another York U person here :) .

Yeah, like with all bands, liking The Carps kinda does depend on what kind of music you like. Even if you’re not into their drums n’ bass-electro-rock-[insert other appropriate genres here], you should at the very least leave quite entertained. They do a good job of putting on a show. They’ve been known to hand out sparklers and tambourines, climb onto rafters, jump off stage and serenade audience members… etc.

If I remember right, the drummer/vocalist Jahmal is from York U, too. :)
