I’ve had the chance to listen to this EP for a little while now, it definitely has a dream pop style matching thematically to Hibernation and the cold winters that you normally experience within the month of February. However, with it being May, Montag’s Hibernation proves to be an effectively tiny set of songs year-round.

The style of Hibernation is a lot like what you’d find in a sleeping pattern. It starts dreadfully slow, if you don’t have the patience you’ll never get into the good parts that wait at the end of the road. Picture the first three tracks as the tossing and turning stage where from La Symetrie Du Coeur on, is like the beginning of REM sleep with the best track being, Labrador (encore).

I really dig the EP, there’s nothing wrong with it. I’m not in love with it, or as Ack from Herohill Twittered “I like Hibernation, but I’m not in like with it” (does he mean love? Or is he just trying to be witty?). I guess my main thoughts is that while the beginning is solid, it just seems like an odd starting point for the EP in which you have to force yourself to settle down with it. Personally if I were to fall asleep, I’d prefer to just fall into a deep sleep rather then the portion in which I force myself to close my eyes in silence.

Nonetheless, patience is awarded.
