Extermination Music Night To Discontinue on Facebook?

Extermination Music Night began in 2005 and the 11th installment was set to take place last Saturday, which I attended (with photos). You can check out the album here as well as . Please favourite our page on Facebook while you’re at it. Photos are after the jump if you don’t like clicking external links.

Extermination Music Night XI was pretty awesome, at least while it lasted. There were tons of artwork all over the abandoned Kodak Factory, various performance artists and a dead rotting racoon. Even then, there was music to be played with the first band in costumes while we were disappointingly alerted the cops were waiting outside. Sure enough after the first song (or half song) was played, the event was cut short.

Bands we would’ve liked to see on Saturday:
Actual Water
MP3: Pencil Legged by Actual Water
Sun RaRaRa
MP3: Crying by Sun RaRaRa
ORN
MP3: Teeth by ORN
No White God (can’t find anything on them)
Carl Didur
MP3: Not For Wooing by Carl Didur

Unfortunately that wasn’t the end of it for the organizers. They had some stuff stolen explained in this facebook message from Daniel Vila:

Hi everyone,
Bummer about Saturday, but good while it lasted, I think.
The real drag, though, is that we had equipment stolen from us. LARGE EQUIPMENT. IE: the smaller generator downstairs that was powering the office by Courtney Park and Sarah Kilpack. Initially we thought it was gone that night, but someone actually moved it down to the basement, as friends of ours saw it when they returned to the building at 3 am. When we returned at 4 am, we searched the whole first and second floors and couldn’t find the thing, so we just assumed it was gone. When Matt returned last night to take a look, it was gone. He searched the basement for an hour.

If anyone saw a person or people moving the generator down to the basement or subsequently out the door, please let us know and name names if you know them. Stealing the rather costly item that allows us to do these events is the height of disgustingness, really.

Another disgusting theft occurred, though. Someone stole two of Matt’s guitar pedals. A Boss tuner and a Boss pitchshifter/delay. They were sitting on the stage and went missing when both Matt and I had to leave the front area at the same time. Probably around 1 am or so. If you saw someone take them, again, please let us know and name names.

While we made enough from donations to pay these things off, these people have taken money out of the participating artists’ hands and soured the whole “total openness” experience so much that we are going to be forced to go back underground and eliminate the Facebook event page in the future.

Regardless of the two points of sourness, we do thank you for your patronage.

-Your friends at EMN

Sigh some people are fucking assholes while the event was cut off, it was still pretty damn awesome. I guess if you want some more of the awesomeness, you’ll just have to join the Stillepost forums. Especially if it’s going to be “word of mouth” it might be a tough event if you’re like me and don’t know a boat load of people.

Now onto the photos: (all of them were taken in the dark.. so I took them blind)

Sorry. Didn’t know she was naked (couldn’t see!). Nancy thought she was male…photo evidence suggests otherwise.

it’s open publicity like this that is only going to contribute to these parties going deeper underground. they require a certain level of anonymity to even exist, without getting shut down after an hour and a half.

Hmm possibly. We haven’t actively promoted these events though, and just mentioned them after the fact.

If they want something to be removed from mentioning, I’d gladly take it down.
