Lissy Trullie – Ready For The Floor Review + Awful Music Video
What happens when you take a song and cover it? Well if you want people to take notice, it needs to be 1) better then the original 2) if not better then just so wildly different that it can’t be compared to the original. Like remixes, it’s all about the artist’s vision or sometimes lackthereof with the countless number of poor covers and remixes that populate the internet.Lissy Trullie went so far as making a video to her cover song of Hot Chip’s Ready For the Floor.
The video completely stinks. Now I know it’s hard to make a video but talk about pointless and with synchronization to the music video. The song starts off slow and speeds up much like the original but the change between shots just keeps at the same pace. The switching between shots is just pretty awful too actually. I can’t fathom looking at the music video any longer. It’s worse then those pointless music videos that leave you less then impressed. This one leaves you wanting to close the browser window.

The song isn’t bad. Trullie does well with the vocals so at least that part of it is better. That being said, the track is more of a down tempo/lower fi version. It doesn’t do anything wild with an already great song. It’s probably riding high off the greatness that is the Hot Chip track. The pacing also kind of remains the same, so while it feels different at first, there aren’t many changes to make this track original and a stand out.

I don’t really like this cover as much as I do the Little Boots one. There are also a lot of likable covers at this other site I found yesterday.
