Muse – United States of Eurasia MP3 Review

Before starting AWmusic or the forgetful name Allan’s World of Music, I was a HUGE Muse fan. They were probably my favourite band. They absolutely kicked ass live and is still my favourite all-time concert. Besides that, I haven’t listened to them as much more recently. Their new track of United States of Eurasia comes on Resistance due out September 14th on (shudder) Warner.
Being that it’s so hard to avoid Warner artists, I’m just going ahead with it. Muse is capable of making great songs, Matthew Bellamy is very talented. I guess sometimes Muse has alienated some listeners with this pro-conspiracy business. There’s always the Radiohead comparison which makes ZERO sense. Maybe he sings like Thom Yorke but the comparison stops there.
This song reeks of lameness in regards to the content. I’m a little tired of the conspiracy stuff but it still is decent. You can’t really deny that Bellamy has a great voice and I can see some people finding it good, because it definitely isn’t bad. It does have a little of the Queen progression so while I understand the comparisons, I don’t get why it’s the cover your ears material that Pitchfork seems to claim. So what it sounds like Queen? How is that so bad? (Make it a case to never read a Pitchfork on Muse – ever. Some bands they hate more then others and they hate Muse).
I think the main thing I have is that the song comes off kind of mediocre. At least with this stage of their careers, they’ve done so much, I can’t help but flip to another track. This track isn’t very good in comparison to their previous works. It uses their basic formula with the strength of Bellamy’s vocal (despite sounding like Queen using classical and progression it’s seems to fit their style nonetheless). Perhaps it’s a tired act or what but with a new track floating around on the blogosphere, here’s hoping that’s better.
Get it while you can:

Didn’t like the song either. Looks like I’ll crawl back in my dead star/oos hole for another six weeks.
