Tigers That Talked – Black Heart, Blue Eyes EP Review

Tigers That Talked Black Heart, Blue Eyes EP Review

Tigers That Talked a band from Leeds, UK released an EP with the single Black Heart Blue Eyes. A lot of the time when a band contacts me, I usually have a hard time liking. It’s usually one out of twenty bands that I end up liking. Tigers That Talked was 1 out of the 19 I wasn’t digging. However, I keep giving them a chance for whatever reason. Eventually I decided that I would review their EP but I put that down for awhile.

Anyway, I finally gave it a good shot the past week and I’ve been happily listening to it for awhile. Tigers That Talked have a violin to give it a classical feel but are mainly a pop rock outfit. They do have some interesting compositions. It actually didn’t work for me right away but it’s the type of music that pays off. They go all out with the final track “Duets” on violin sounding more like a Scottish/Irish traditional song. For the first three songs though, it had a slow brooding pace that requires patience. I can’t fully explain why it’s pretty good, the vocals while a little hard to get into are decent. The band doesn’t seem to have too much material so it feels like a good starting point.
