Fucked Up Win 2009 Polaris Prize

Fucked Up Win 2009 Polaris Prize

Fucked Up’s The Chemistry of Common Life captured the 2009 Polaris Prize for Best Canadian album and winning the $20,000 prize that comes with it. Good news but I do feel bad for Chad VanGaalen losing out with his excellent alum – Soft Airplane.

I didn’t provide as much coverage as I did last year regarding the Polaris Prize, I was kind of meh to the idea but maybe next year. Anyway Fucked Up brought out critics with many saying they redefined the genre Hardcore. While I heard more tempered thoughts among friends alike, it was generally considered pretty good. A lot of the time more then one winner is deserving and I pegged both Fucked Up and CVG deserving to win.

It’s just all rehashing of previous thoughts anyway so congrats to Fucked Up.
