Brand New HMV Acoustic Set and Signing

Waiting in line for anything is never any fun, but waiting in line to see a Brand New play live is different. Yesterday Brand New came to the HMV in downtown Toronto to promote their newest album release “Daisy”, play an acoustic set and sign autographs.
The line up began at 9 outside of the store and wrapped around the block. Conversations revolved around people’s thoughts on “Daisy” compared to previous albums as well as the important question “what Brand New lyrics would you get tattooed on you?”.
HMV had the stage set up on the second floor with all the cds making it hard too see with the pillars (thus the mediocre photo). When Brand New came out the first thing that Jesse Lacey did was stare at all the band t-shirts on the wall behind him and ask us if we thought that Marilyn Manson wanted his t-shirt to look like it was from twilight. Jesse was definitely the most vocal out of the entire group during the set joking with the band about the rhythmic liberties certain members were taking during the songs. He also went on to speak about their new album saying that their first single “At The Bottom” was like a scout sent out on its own to be fired at without the rest of its troops.
The most memorable moment of the evening happened when they were playing “Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don’t”. Halfway through the song the sound cut out on Jesse, but the crowd continued singing the rest of the verse. Jesse immediately stood up and began signing the rest of the song without a mike, yelling the lyrics out to the crowd.
After Brand new finished their set, they did an autograph signing. Really friendly guys considering earlier Jesse had sarcastically mentioned how much he enjoys the quality time he gets to spend with his fans when he does autographs. Here is one of their new songs “Sink” from “Daisy” and and older one from the album “Deja Entendu”.

Love the new album Daisy! Really get gritty, kinda fugazi like. Kudos to you for waiting in that line! Im gonna have to think about what lyrics I would get tattoed on myself… later Shannon!
