Yael Meyer – Heartbeat EP
“But it’s better when I’m with you.”
“Sometimes like water, sometimes like something you would hear on the radio, sometimes like outerspace and sometimes like a song you just can’t get out of your head…” Minus the water, Yael Meyer fulfills her myspace description under the “sounds like” box.
About a month ago, Heartbeat EP was released by the one-woman band Yael Meyer. She writes, produces, sings, and plays. The piano is always slow, and the guitar nothing fancy. However, such simplicity of an artist goes a long way for Meyer. The song “Heartbeat” gives sounds that parallels to the Cranberries’ classic “Dreams.” The free single “Shed Their Fear,” can be downloaded for free on Meyer’s myspace, but doesn’t particularly highlight the EP as the other last three songs. Still soft and relaxing, they provide a head swaying feel.
As 2009 comes to an end, Meyer provides a soothing vibe that shows us that music this year has never been so pleasant.
