Bands to Watch- Sleigh Bells
Sleigh Bells, made up of Derek Miller (of Poison the Well fame) and what has to the be the coolest pop star turned fourth grade teacher turned musician Alexis Krauss. Apparently these two met while Miller worked at a Brazilian restaurant as a server and was one of those annoying, yeah these are my head shot type servers. You know what I mean, the ones who tell you their entire life story while bringing you your drink, your burger, your anything really and somehow manage to make you feel guilty to give them a slightly larger than normal tip. Well if it was a tip he was after, he was out of luck because Alexis was looking for something similar as within two weeks the duo were recording the demos that we are hearing now.
Word is that one of my favourites Diplo is working with them on their highly anticipated debut release which can only mean it is going to be amazing. Sleighbells have been compared to Crystal Castles with there hard electro, guitar rifts and female lead vocals, can kind of see this, but Crystal Castles is a lot more electro and Alexis Krauss seems to be able to stand through out her entire performance. Alexis Krauss is alot sexier when she performs as well, she has these throaty moans that she often belts out and its gets you thinking about a little more than the music, but no complaints here. I kind of draw a comparison to M.I.A (give A/B machine a listen) she has this quick talking in a monotone voice thing going on followed by heavy blurry beats, something that I think M.IA kind of perfected.
Their songs are perfect for the new “chillwave” scene that has emerged in the past year or so but still has massive appeal to people who want to be able to dance to song. While you may not be fist pumping to this one, I imagine that a Sleigh Bells performance would be a good time. Sleigh Bells will definitely be a band I am watching out for in the near future.

Ahh spelling fail overload. Had to edit it man. I think it was a cluster of 5 typos in a row. Do Mac browsers have spell check plugins? It’ll make your life 10x easier.
