No Age- Everything In Between Album Review
What’s perhaps most refreshing about No Age is ironically rooted in their active conjuring of the ghosts of punk rock past. The crunchy rhythms and jarring textures which have become their trademark evoke equal parts Sonic Youth, MBV and The Stooges. Yet there is something undeniably novel about No Age’s approach. Imbued with the noise rock tradition of their canonized contemporaries they boast a tangibly playful sensibility that reeks of unbridled youth and experiment, eagerly diving into unexplored avenues of melodic punk rock potential. 3 albums, a handful of EP’s and a major label contract into the game, they effortlessly maintain the spontaneous DIY vibe first offered up on 2007′s Weirdo Rippers. True to form, No Age’s latest appears as a recklessly crafted explosion of garage rock spontaneity and structural pop harmony.
Without isolating any particular songs, I will say that a creative enthusiasm permeates the product, and No Age fans will by no means be disappointed. For those with even a passive interest in punk rock Everything In Between, like the rest of No Age’s catalog, is a must…. And if you don’t like it, you are pee.
