Glens Oldies But Goodies List
I have been listening to a fair share of old music lately and when I say old I mean blog years because most of this stuff isn’t going to be playing on chum fm any time soon. I know I complain about being busy with a school a lot but its almost over so I figured I might as well do it here one more time while I have the chance so here it goes. Well, it has been tough staying up to date with all the new music pouring in with the latest round of buzz bands out of SXSW so I have primarily been listening to stuff I either forgot about or downloaded and just never got around to doing it.

Gui Borotto

I know I have wrote on this guy before, but I just rediscovered his album take my breath away and it’s basically all I have been listening too. Minimal house is where its at yall, these beats may not be perfect for dancing to at the club but this just proves that electronic music doesn’t have to be about doing “SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS” despite what Lil Jon may tell you.

Julianna Barwick

I get that this may not be everyones cup of tea, this chamberish music is really relaxing for some odd reason and makes me think about those living tree people in lord of the rings, dont tell me im the only one right? RIGHT? Honestly, I can’t put too many words together at the moment to describe her but if you like ambient relaxing stuff I suggest you give it a listen because she is pretty good at that.
Juliana Barwick- The Magic Place
The Knife

I really did forget how amazing these guys are. Still go down as the best band of decade in my opinion. If you haven’t have the chance to check them out yet I really suggest you do.
The Knife- N.Y Hotel
The Knife- Heartbeats
The Mama & The Papas

I used to hate this band when I was a kid, mostly because it got in the way of the pokemon sounds from the gameboy whenever I was on a long drive with the family. But now that I no longer play pokemon, ok not that often, I can finally appreciate The Mama and the Papas.

Mum

This was one of the first bands I went to see live and I went with my friend Jane I believe. Well, they werent as good live as they sounded on the album but I still love their music.

THis band is like impossible to google but their music is pretty bad ass. I have fallen victim to the latest witch house trend and boy have I fallen hard. Which reminds me I need to write on the Salem show I went to last week, UGHH even more work great thanks! BAH tangent, but yah this band is pretty sweet check them out.
oOoOO- Mumbai
The Radio Dept.

Its been like 5 years since I first heard one of their albums it and it has ever single time got me to listen it from beginning to end. It reminds me mostly of the time I sat on a train from Amsterdam to Rome, which sounds like fun but I promise you it wasn’t. A gypsy tried to rob me and I wasn’t able to go to the bathroom without having someone try to break in. The scenery was beautiful though.
