One of the best folk shows I attended this past year was William Fitzsimmons’ show at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern. I also had the chance to sit in on an interview with him, which was conducted by my friend, Zal. Check out my review of the show HERE and the previously mentioned interview HERE! I am so excited to share with everyone that William Fitzsimmons will be embarking on a two month long North American tour starting in Ann Arbor on February 9th. He is currently finishing up the calendar year touring Europe.

One of the latest bands to be added to Dine Alone Records already stunning roster is San Antonio blues rockers, Hacienda. Dine Alone Records recently released the records of The Jezabels, Deer Tick, Neon Indian, Yukon Blonde, Caveman and Hanni El Khatib. Hacienda’s 2010 record, Big Red & Barbacoa, caught the attention of Black Keys’ frontman Dan Auerbach, who produced and recorded the band’s forthcoming third studio album. The album is set for release in Spring 2012.
This past weekend, during their Live Lounge Special at BBC Radio 1, Florence + the Machine covered “Take Care” by Canadian hip-hop artist, Drake. The original track also features Barbadian recording artist, Rihanna. Drake’s second studio album, Take Care, was released just two weeks ago. Based on first week sales, the album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Chart. Check out Florence + the Machine’s beautiful rendition of the track below.
I have always secretly enjoyed Kate Bush and her crazy eyes.
I was a bit thrown off when I saw that she released some new material but thought I would check it out and I am pretty glad I did, this track is killing it for me right now. It reminds me a lot of The Knife In Collaboration With Mt. Sims and PlanningToRock, just way better, because lets be honest there was only one decent track on that electronic opera album. I have a feeling this track will be making an appearance on pretty much everyones yearly round up.
Here I am again, shamelessly promoting myself in hopes of earning a spot on Canadian television. Much Music posted that they are looking to cast tv personalities for some new shows they are producing. Words cannot express how excited I am about this opportunity! Last year, I applied to be a MTV Host — but clearly that didn’t pan out. You can see my blog post and video from last year HERE. Since then, I have had the opportunity to intern at Audioblood Media (handles the marketing & publicity for Paper Lions, The Artist Life, Leif Vollebekk, Turbogeist and many other rad people). I also interned at Dine Alone Records (home to City & Colour, Moneen, Neon Indian, Tokyo Police Club and many more awesome bands). It’s been quite the year for my own personal development.
