Ditch – Anger Parade

Ditch Anger Parade

Now are you one of the many System of a Down fans that have been waiting long and hard for them to finally come out of hiatus? Well no luck as of yet save for all their solo albums, but if you’re looking for something similar to them to stave off the SOAD hiatus, then do I have the perfect band for you.

When I went to see Sons of Butcher at the Bovine Sex Club in April of this year, I wasn’t expecting much in the way of opening bands, but I was surprised when this band who I had never even heard of before in my entire life got on stage and put on a performance of a lifetime. They go by the name of Ditch and they are a sight to behold live, and even as intoxicated as they were with rye and coke they were able to pull off some of the best metal I’ve listened to in ages.

I had a moment after their show to talk with the lead vocalist Regan who was unbelievably wasted but still coherent enough to have a decent conversation with me. When I told him how I thought his band sounded similar to System of a Down, he replied that they said the exact same thing. It turned out that Ditch had actually opened for System of a Down before and got to chill with all the members from that band. Before our conversation ended I asked if he had any CD’s for sale to which he told me that if I bought him a rye and coke the price of the CD would drop to five dollars. When I came back with his rye and coke he already had another two in his hand and had to decide which one he was going to put down to accept the one I had bought him. Needless to say he was actually a pretty chill guy to hang out with no matter how wasted he was.

The CD I purchased was aptly named Anger Parade and for five dollars and a rye and coke, it was definitely worth every last penny. There are nine songs in total on this CD and each song is just so entirely metal that it will have your head ready to explode from the sheer explosive tunes that will be rocking throughout your entire body from head to toe. Each song is worth listening to over and over again until you need to take a five minute rest and then get back into them again. The bRide and Richard Prior are my personal favorites off this album since they remind me most of some of SOAD’s earlier work. You can purchase this CD most anywhere, but I would recommend buying a copy off Ditch themselves because you’ll probably get it cheaper from them considering how drunk they get that night. They also have Anger Parade up for sale on iTunes which is also a good choice if you can’t find them playing a concert anywhere near you. I strongly recommend buying this CD because it is just pure raw hardcore metal that hasn’t been felt since the likes of Children of Bodom or Megadeth.

Ditch hails all the way from my native home of Toronto, Ontario and were formed by Regan whose on vocals, Mike Mulroy on guitars, Travis Woods on drums, and B-OR on bass, and together they make up what metal is all about. Deafening low vocals, a screaming fast guitar mixed with some low heavy rhythm guitar as well, booming loud drums, and an eerie low bass. All this combined forms something which the likes of many worldwide have still yet to experience. So I advise everyone, not just SOAD fans alike, but everyone to go check out Anger Parade and to go out to see Ditch live as soon as possible. I mean what do you have to lose except your metal virginity because even metal fans will be feeling like it’s been their first time listening to metal after they have listened to Ditch. So remember the name Ditch from this time on and go out and buy Anger Parade either from the band, online at www.indiepool.com, or on iTunes. Be sure to also check out their live DVD which should be coming out later this year.
