Wow I dodged some big bullets. Songs that I will keep a secret but I have quite a bit of guilty pleasure. This list is actually a list I could listen to on occasion.

I am going with the Celtics as they are the underdogs (bet on them +160 to take the series) and they have quite a few guys without championships while Bryant, Phil J and Co. have a few rings under the them so fuck ‘em.

Paul Pierce’s dramatic injury and being lifted off and then coming back so soon kind of ticked me off. It’s always like Paul Pierce goes down like he’s shot only to come back feelin’ fine. His entrance while the Celtics were on offense and the crowd cheering also messed up the offense. Funny.

Also, while basketball is always related to hip-hop…this playlist will just be rock because rock and basketball can go to together.

Anyway before I ramble about random, useless things, here’s a playlist:

7. Altered Beast by We Are Scientists (Initials are lame for a nickname…everyone does it…how about the Genetically Altered Beast for KG?)

9. The Comeback by The Shout Out Louds (if you foresaw that the Celtics would be in the finals at the end of the season last year – I’d call you a genius)
10. Faker by Everybody Else (it’s arguable…the dramatics were cheesy, though people were saying that he was instructed not to walk…it seems a little odd nonetheless)
11. I Feel Better by Frightened Rabbit (he’ll be fine)

This show was actually really funny and most of all meaningful as a teen grows up in high school. The sad thing is that it wasn’t promoted and many viewers from outside of the US were forced to download the show via torrents. They also switched their lineup days and lost half their viewership. The Canadian channel fucked me over by not playing it and I looked forward to downloading this show weekly.

I guess the problem is that a sitcom with rather real situations when a Muslim exchange student is living in the US but it’s a shame that the stuff on TV is that popular do you people buy into that crap? This television show had SOUL and was just hilarious.. it didn’t glamorize the rich and fashion and the idiotic. It was believable and sometimes I just don’t understand why things are popular.. Like Undeclared, this show is only going to last one season. It’s officially canceled with one more episode to go. I think that I just hate people and “pop culture” in general or else shows like these would stay alive and that bitch Tila Tequila would be off the air. Like Undeclared this show is ahead of its time I guess. Judd Apatow sure has been successful since Fox are a bunch of retards. Stupid CW.

As far as expectations go, I think the only expectation was that it had to be funny and anything extra was a bonus. I guess I guage how funny a movie is with the type of laughter I usually give off. In the case of movies if it’s able to get me laughing like a girl…it has done its job. I will say that some jokes were way too silly that it got unnecessary though the racial jokes and debunking of stereotypes was definitely a highlight. The storyline was a bit cheesy and the jokes make the movie worthwhile. One character also had me annoyed and being overthetop stupid (forget his name but he’s the guy in the trailer making the North Korea + Al Quaeda joke). However the movie knew how to be cute/romantic yet funny at the same time so it wasn’t all drug-filled silliness.

Overall, you got what you paid for which was lots of laughs and stupid storyline or not, it had its moments. 4 out of 5.

As for the soundtrack, it wasn’t too bad with the song that stuck out the most was Mickey Avalon’s My Dick as it played after the “bottomless” party. I think the soundtrack was alright, the hip-hop tied well into the movie the only thing I hated was the use of Boyz II Men It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye. I just didn’t think it tied into the movie and the movie doesn’t need serious “sad” moments.

I originally listened to “Rich Girls, Poor Girls” which was alright but not spectacular. But me being me decided to check out their myspace and found their whole album being streamed. It surprised me how good their stuff was.

FYI, Everybody Else is named after The Kinks (arguably one of my favorite older bands) B-side and they just do a great job of making some addictive pop rock songs. Out of Los Angeles, California their myspace profile has an impressive but 330,000 profile views BUT to me they are almost unheard of with very little blogs talking about them and not even a wikipedia article.

Getting this album proved more difficult as I wished to review this album while providing some mp3s. I couldn’t use Itunes because it was a US-only store and Canadian can’t use PayPal. The Militia Group’s (not deserving of a link!) page when accessed from the front page does not allow you to buy the album. I was about to give up the search but luckily I realized you could buy the album from the home page after clicking on the album from there (confusing). Either way I got no response from their press contact. One thing for sure though, when you see a myspace of 330k hits you have to think something is wrong with how this band is marketed. Without many blogs blogging about them and limited internet exposure you’d have to say there has been a strong word of mouth promotion going on here.

Anyway when most people hear the word pop, I think they ultimately dismiss it which is bit of a paradox as people are supposed to like it. In my opinion, Everybody Else is similar to Ok Go with music style (maybe not the “gayness” that Kevin hates). This music is addictive but with a good singer and addictive hooks and overall something that you can get you singing along and/or dancing. Being a relative unknown, this band deserves a lot more praise and Everybody Else’s album is solid and has been reviewed quite favorably by AbsolutePunk, and Sputnik Music. Personally despite “pop” not being cool it’s a great album and I give it a 4.5 out of 5 and worth my money to buy it. Even if they ever get popular, they’ll still be a guilty pleasure.

They’ve got some pretty good tracks on here, my favorite is Meat Market followed by Makeup but there are many more that I like.
