Looker – Gates of The Old City
Looker is a female fronted pop band out of New York who has so far released two singles and have one coming out on April 15.
Looker first got my attention a month or so ago after I liked a few songs streaming on their myspace. With very limited material to write about, and ending up with a lackluster post such as this one may turn out to be, I’d pass.
With more an effort to update more often, I finally decided to share some tracks that I do quite enjoy even if the artist isn’t so well known.
Looker’s charm comes from their duo vocalist/songwriters. I actually couldn’t tell the difference (or failed to notice) but their charm is definitely being simple female fronted pop. There are elements of punk I guess but they aren’t very over the top and it’s the vocal/lyrics that gives its ultimate charm. I’m having trouble of giving off comparisons but are they all that important? They’ve released some pretty good stuff even if it’s simplistic.
