Neverending White Lights: Act II The Blood and the Life Eternal Review

Neverending White Lights: Act II The Blood and the Life Eternal ReviewDaniel Victor released another album to his Neverending White Lights project on October 30th of this year. For the first act (an album I enjoyed thoroughly) he had the likes of Dallas Green, Scott Anderson (Finger Eleven), Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), Nick Hexum of 311 and more. Despite all the featured vocalists it was a great album and I believed Victor could do some more solo stuff to garner some respect.

Act II features 5 tracks with Victor on vocals, but not as an impressive as a lineup I would say when it comes to featured singers. Granted Auf Def Maur, Aqualung, Lexi from Magneta Lane, Hawksley Workman, Sune Rose Wagner (Raveonettes) etc is still pretty good company.

Musically I didn’t dig this one, even if it wasn’t much of a draw for me when it came to lead singers. A lot of the songs on the first act really displayed the lead singer’s vocal range as well as musically it couldn’t have been any better. Act II feels too mellow and sobering at times that there’s no joy to listen to some of these tracks even if it features an artist I greatly respect.

Victor does get points for putting more solo stuff out there. It looks like it might be a either Victor getting more respect for his own personal work or he couldn’t get 3 or 4 other singers to contribute. As I finish listening, the only featured singer that really had some great skill displayed was Lexi Valetine of Magneta Lane, Coury Palermo and Hawksley Workman. Otherwise vocally the “bigger names” of contributors didn’t really add anything as it was forgettable and had me rather surprised when reading the tracklisting when I couldn’t really hear/feel the contributor.

Overall too depressing of an album and ultimately disappointed in the tracks I would’ve been looking forward to. This gets a 2.75 out of 5. Some decent tracks on here at least (especially with Victor at the helm). Maybe he was better off doing a solo album (it would sell less but I think it would’ve been a better piece of work)

Here are my favorite tracks off the album:
