CMW in Review: Bombay Bicycle Club (03/11/11)
This is the last post of my “CMW in Review” series. Words cannot describe how excited I was to be able to see Bombay Bicycle Club perform. CMW marked the UK band’s first North American show on Canadian soil. Lee’s Palace was packed for their set on March 11th. The guys played an AMAZING set and, I can safely say, won the hearts of Canadian fans with their alternative folk/indie rock. Concert-goers tweeting during their set and after the show made “Bombay Bicycle Club” a trending topic in Toronto during the early hours of Saturday morning.
One of my favourite parts of their set was when they performed “Lamplight” of their debut album, I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose (2009). The band slipped in and out of manic uncontrollable rock-outs to relaxed swaying-in-the-wind movements. It was so exciting to see people in the crowd singing and dancing along to songs, only to prove that they have a Canadian fan base. Their Canadian fan base is only going to keep growing having played a killer 6-song set at The Indies the evening of March 12th. I’m telling you now, Bombay Bicycle Club is a must-see band.
