Municipal Waste

At The Gates is a Swedish melodic death metal band. They belong to the Gothenburg metal scene with bands such as Dark Tranquillity and In Flames (whose upcoming album sucks). These guys made it big after the release of their last album, Slaughter of the Soul, in 1995. However, they broke up in 1996, after two of the members left.

Suicidal Final Tour is a North America reunion tour for At The Gates and features special guests, Darkest Hour and Municipal Waste. It is coming to Toronto on July 13th at the Opera House. This might as well be ATG’s last tour as they say they’re not coming out with any more albums. I saw Municipal Waste last summer at the Opera House. It was a pretty wild show. I actually found out about this show after searching for Municipal Waste concerts.

Anyways, for those of you who are At The Gates fans, I suggest checking out this concert because it is very likely that it will be their last tour. For those of you who aren’t too familiar with their music, these guys sound a lot like The Haunted, as it was formed by three of the At The Gates members after they broke up. They can also be compared to Dark Tranquillity. Listen for yourselves:

I went to a pretty sweet concert Saturday night, ended up pretty stoned and spending 30 bucks on booze and woke up the next morning with bruises everywhere. The place wasn’t packed, in fact it was pretty empty when Shatter Point first came on, but when Municipal Waste came on everybody went in the pit and the whole pit was pretty much moshing.

The lead singer for Shatter Point was pretty bad. He’s this fat dude who growls a lot and cant sing. I have to give him credit though, his guitar playing wasn’t bad and real growling is a hard thing to master. Before the show i was in the washroom stall changing into my new shirt and i heard him having diarrhea in the stall next to mine. It sounded pretty disgusting.

Skull Crusher came on stage next and they were just meh. I spent the whole time loading up on beer on the side so I’ll b able to have a good time when Burn to Black and Municipal Waste comes on. It was when Burn to Black started playing that the crowd really got going. I got myself all the way infront of the stage so close that theres band members sweat dripping on me. The lead singer reached out and put his hand on my head. There was also a fair bit of chicks at the show. Metal chicks are hot. At one point i got surrounded by 5 of em and i think i ACCIDENTALLY molested 2 of em… repeatedly When Municipal Waste finally came on, there were people climbing on stage and crowd surfing. Some girl behind me got knocked over by a crowd surfer, it was pretty funny. And then i smoked a joint rite infront of the stage. I figured that since i can smoke a whole joint with no body bothering me i mite as well lit up a cigarette. And then rite before i got the chance to climb on stage for the last song of the show, some fat bouncer dude comes and kick me out. I also saw that bouncer lady that took my blunt last time, she looked mean.
